oooh... I don't know what it is, but that coins has a very different look from the usuals. Maybe its the toning.

congrats on the complete set. where can i see it all together?

I got an idea! How about we post in here when someone DOES find something in the coinstar!

No, a nice VG or F Morgan is the best circulated numismatic piece ever. But for current circulating coins, none of them are great. Worn Franklins of days gone by were nice looking as well as Liberty Nickels. Maybe the Jefferson is OK, but nothing like our turn of the 20th century coinage for graceful aging.
Well, if we're talking about of all coins (I was just talking about the Jeff, roosie, lincoln, and washington), then my vote is for barber coinage that shows beautiful wear at all grades.

Oooh... war nickels are my favorite to find. Besides the penny, old jeffs are the best looking worn circulation pieces.

2004 $20 star
I had to handle very large sums of money today and I got the urge to look through everything. Oddly, that star was the only interesting note in the bunch.
I've never found a star note before, only bought them. Well, I guess I'm about to shell out $20 of my own money to give it a new home.

1988 $10

I'm not sure what my morals say about that. I want to do it but I'm just too honest.

so everyone always finds things in CoinStars. The only time I use them is when I'm too lazy to wait for the bank teller to rewrap my searched rolls. Therefore I know exactly what is in those rolls and what the CoinStar rejects.
How do you guys not know what you are putting in the coinstar assuming it is your already-searched change? Or are you looking in some secret compartment that others don't look in after depositing their change.

Got an update for us?

1981 A $1 FRN
Oldest note I've ever found besting the 85 $20 I found a few weeks ago, which bested the 93 $1 which I found many many many years ago.

I picked up these nice notes;
Ghana N.D. (1965) 1 Cedi. This has Kwame Nkrumah's portrait facing left in a medallion in the top right-hand corner & his portrait facing right in the watermark area.It depicts the Bank of Ghana building on the back.
Hong Kong N.D. (1941) 1 Cent. Government of Hong Kong.Brown on the front & red on the back. Signature of R.R. Todd as Financial Secretary.
New Zealand 1968 54c. on 5/- British postal order (4c. on 4d. poundage change). Issued at Wellington on the 19th of December 1968 & paid at Wellington on the 29th of November 1978. No counterfoil.
Aidan.
Can you post a pic of the Ghana note? If I remember the last Popular Note Comp correctly, some Ghana notes did well.

If I could only use the following smiley once in my life, here is the time to use it.

Whatever looks beautiful and that I can afford : x

Date and mint. But since seeing all of the beautiful coins posted on CP, I may start picking up some type beauties.
-
I have to agree with that. Since I'm really up there in age some of the coins people find in the last 40 years were commonly used in change when I was a kid. Heck, there wasn't even a Red Book, Roosevelt Dimes weren't invented and I remember people complaining about those new Quarters that came out recently called Washington Quarters.

Oops, forgot to add that a friend of mine found an 1860's (I think) cent in the parking lot at the grocery store.

I feel like I've come across an Indian head with my dad or something but I think 1910's is most likely.

Nice catch on all of those, andy! Especially the zincolns!

Looks almost prooflike.

1964 dime in earnings for choir fundraiser
Here is a good discussion for everyone:
You see a coin or note that someone donated towards a charity or for a fundraiser. You don't have any change or cash on you to replace it with. You really really wanna have it. What do your morals tell you to do?
-
WOW to all of those!
1) The indian head is gorgeous
2) I wish I could hold that '95 in my hand
3) I never find anything interesting in change : (
4) See no. 3
