bill
I'm not a Russian collector, but given the threads posted here, I thought some of you may be interested in a medal listed in the upcoming Argenor auction on May 3 in Paris. The online catalog can be found at: http://www.argenor.com/en/index.php The medal is lot 689 (10000 Euro estimate). A couple of Alexander III gold 10 roubles are the only other Russian pieces. The foreign selections see to be cheery picked coins such as a Portugese Philip I Cruzado de 500 Reis with a 22,000 Euro estimate.
gxseries
Thanks for the image bill. That coin / medal image of Alexsander I seemed to have been in some serious dispute, as trial coins designed to portray Alexsander I did not get approval from the senate. I personally don't find the portrait to be too appealing either, but on the other hand, made history in the Russian numismatics as one of the rare designs in medals and trial coins.
