jlueke
Last year for this type. It seems a little odd color for a bronze. Anyone know the exact composition off the top of their head?
Tiffibunny
It just says bronze in the book.
bill
Sorry it took me so long to answer your post Jorg. My Norwegian books were buried in the bottom of the closet. I couldn't get to them until my wife started packing up the Christmas stuff. I collect coins, she does Christmas. According to Bjorn Ronning's Norges Mynter og Pengesedler Etter 1874, Universitetsforlaget (Oslo:1972), Norwegian coin bronze is 950 Copper, 40 Tin, and 10 Zinc. This is slightly different from the 90% copper, 10% tin composition of typical bronze. My guess is that it accounts for the appearance. I always liked the color of the bronze Norwegian coins. I was sorry when I sold my collection in 1991.
jlueke
Thanks Bill. No need to apologize, I'm glad someone has the books to find buried in their home Just a little zinc, I wonder if that is it. Maybe some other country used the same alloy.
