I was suprised to see the "luster"/shine on so many of the early QEII 5 cent pieces even though they have been circulated. Trantor_3 Posted November 23, 2005 Report Share Posted November 23, 2005 I think it's pretty common for nickel. NL used to have nickel coins too : 10 cent, 25 cent, 1 gulden and 2.5 gulden. When not circulating, they stay very well in their original state/luster/colour, no toning. I guess the coins your g.u. collected were taken out of circ. pretty early and then just layed still...
