allen.moore
I have always believed in the power of the group conscience, so am soliciting your opinion. I have been offered this coin by a private seller. He says this 1763 2 Kopek is an overstrike (clearly, it is) on a (year unknown) 4 Kopek of Peter III. What do you think? STEVE MOULDING
Yes it is, 1763CPM 2K over a Peter III 4K. The year of the undercoin is 1762, there's really no other choice. Steve
allen.moore
Steve, Thanks for the quick reply. Seller is asking $120. Reasonable? Thanks! Allen
STEVE MOULDING
It's nice, but is a relatively common coin. I personally wouldn't pay anywhere near that much.

sigistenz
For $120 sometimes can be foud better piece than this one I agree. This is an interesting coin as regards the interplay of the host coin's design and the overstrike - but it is not nice. Surfaces are raw (from removed corrosion?) and doctored (dark toned, maybe laquered?). The coin is not rare. Nicer ones can be found at less (if you can wait a little - but what collector likes to wait...... ) Sigi -
