Capnbidwell
This is a detail of an 1878 Morgan Silver Dollar. I understand from my coin book there are variations in the feathers and the arrows. The text is not clear and the internet doesn't offer much help. Does this one have a variation or is it a standard variety?
Burks
Looking through my book, very quickly I might add, I didn't notice anything that pops out. But there are 200 some varieties listed in a 34 year old book. I'll take a closer look later. Hopefully someone else can help you. Most of the varieties deal with doubling of the tail feathers and little points here and there it seems. Sorry I can't be of more help to you. But thanks for taking a wonderful photo to help us! Capnbidwell
Fantastic WEB page. Thanks! This coin is a VAM 84A. It has the characteristic weak line in the D in dollar. Not pictured is the weak L in liberty, a die crack on the obverse stars, and a line under the 8 in the date. I owe you big time! I am going to put this bad boy up on Ebay with other Morgans tomorrow 6/20.
