corkykile
Does anyone know if the 1968s proof Roosevelts had any kind of design change during the minting period? These two Roosevelts are distinctly different. The one on the left is obviously a deep cameo and the other is completely shiny coin on both sides. I think it sort of odd they are not both cameos. Also, I cannot find any evidence of a Type I or Type II sort of designation for this year. Any help is always appreciated. Corky
thedeadpoint
I thnk one should be missing an S. Or is that 69 proofs? Also, I think the matte wears away well before they retire the dies. I'd think most or many of my proofs are that way.
Mark Stilson
Just age of dies. As the dies were used more and more the frost slowly disappeared. There was a 1968 no "S" proof dime. Big bucks if you ever find one.

And here I thought I found something really good. New die, old die... just my luck. corky
