halfdollar
Ok, I just joined tonight and already my first post was about a fake rouble. Now I have a second rouble. I also wanted to thank the person who saw me on another website asking for help and they told me about this site. And I wanted to say that you guy's are great! Thanks. Now on to the next question. Before I knew of this site I purchased another coin from an Ebay seller "cashsticker" I was reading some posts here that brought up some concerns for me. I have not received the coin yet but was wondering if you can take a look at the auction and give me any insight please. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...N:IT&ih=024 By the way I would like to share with you my collection of authentic gold roubles
grivna1726
I don't see anything that jumps out at me as obviously false. If it is a fake, then it is a well-made one.

grivna1726
I will post an acual picture, weigh it and do the magnet test when I get it. Good idea. I am more focussed on Peter I to Alexander I coins, less so on the later stuff. Others more knowledgeable than I am in matters of 19th century Russian silver coinage might make much more astute observations in the coming days. IlyaE
1846 Rouble looks authentic to me, I do think that it was cleaned and will not be graded if you send it to NGC or PCGS.
bobh
Welcome to coinpeople, halfdollar! That rouble looks authentic to me, too. Here's mine for comparison (not quite as high grade as your coin, though): http://hairgrove-goldberg.com/Gallery/russia-rouble-1846-PA This seller has had some older coins for sale which raised some questions on this forum, though. And I agree with Ilya, it looks harshly cleaned to me. (And congratulations on those beautiful gold 5 rouble coins! )
