1846 Rouble help please

halfdollar

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just joined tonight and already my first post was about a fake rouble. Now I have a second rouble.

I also wanted to thank the person who saw me on another website asking for help and they told me about this site.

And I wanted to say that you guy's are great! Thanks.

Now on to the next question. Before I knew of this site I purchased another coin from an Ebay seller "cashsticker"

I was reading some posts here that brought up some concerns for me. I have not received the coin yet but was

wondering if you can take a look at the auction and give me any insight please.

By the way I would like to share with you my collection of authentic gold roubles

I will post an acual picture, weigh it and do the magnet test when I get it.

Good idea.

I am more focussed on Peter I to Alexander I coins, less so on the later stuff. Others more knowledgeable than I am in matters of 19th century Russian silver coinage might make much more astute observations in the coming days.

Welcome to coinpeople, halfdollar! ;)

That rouble looks authentic to me, too. Here's mine for comparison (not quite as high grade as your coin, though):

This seller has had some older coins for sale which raised some questions on this forum, though. And I agree with Ilya, it looks harshly cleaned to me.

(And congratulations on those beautiful gold 5 rouble coins! :ninja: )
