bobh
If so, maybe we could meet after the auction and have a beer or something?
IgorS
Bobh, I would like to hear your comments on the auction. 1704 rouble for $100,000 seems a bit much, even with small MD mintmark.
bobh
Bobh, I would like to hear your comments on the auction. 1704 rouble for $100,000 seems a bit much, even with small MD mintmark. I just started a thread with some results ... have you seen it? I don't collect any Peter I roubles, so I am totally unknowledgable about them. But that is a lot of money for ANY coin... I just sat there, waiting for "my" lot 499. I was quite dizzy by the speed at which these prices were reached. Also, I think most were bought by only three or four different bidders ... No. 72 bought several lots (he was at my table on the right, but I do not know who he is), but I'm not sure who bought the 1704 rouble. However, the bidding was very competitive, and I do not believe it was a "chasse gardée" or any such thing.
