bobh
What are your opinions on this piece? Compare the positions of the berries growing out of the wreath: 1 cent 1837 "Feuchtwanger's Composition" Here is a genuine coin which realized $425 in 2003: Teletrade auction from 2003
Vfox
I personally don't know how many die variations there are for the Feuchtwanger cent, but from the look of the color and quality of the one on ebay I would have to vote a well made fake. The lettering is to close to the wreath on the bottom reverse and the "S" and "O" in composition is a different font, the berries are different, the bow of the wreath varies slightly in thickness and the way it's tied, the head of the eagle is tilted in a slightly different arch and seems shorter, and the snake looks somewhat skinny and small. I don't think it's a legit coin, but I am no expert, just going from observations.
28Plain
Pretty clear photos, so I don't think the rim distortions I'm seeing are from poor picture focus. I'd guess it's fake as well.
