gxseries
The first colored coin released in Japan is the 2003 1000yen Aomori coin. Mintage of the coin is at 50,000 and face value of 1000 yen. However what I see on the net is horrifying expensive: they are at least 65,000 yen which is around 600+USD! What is even more interesting is that in the JNDA 2007 catalogue, it lists it at 95,000JPY (900USD for a modern silver commemorative coin?!) Does Krause list them at that price? Here is one auction that just went off at 66,000JPY. http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b72455665 Here is another current listing auction: http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h46726167 But it's still at 600+USD...
