bobh
As I am typing this message (Sat., Sept. 30th 2:37 pm Middle European time), the link at the bottom of this forum called "Right Now on eBay" is pointing to the bogus 37-1/2 rouble gold coin we have been talking about in another thread! akdrv
I knew this was going to happen sooner or later. Is this auction on your eBay watchlist, Bob? The two auctions showing at the bottom of the page are most watched items on eBay in the coin category at the moment. I guess a lot of people are watching it... Did anyone report it to eBay? akdrv
I posted a link to report eBay coin listings violations in the "Coin links" section. http://www.coinpeople.com/index.php?showtopic=11559

I reported it on Wednesday or Thursday, but through a different link ... the one I went through did not have a specific category for "counterfeit coins", so I used the "counterfeit token or certificate". Since the NGC slab has been faked, I thought it would be just as appropriate. Thanks for your link, which I just now used immediately to report it. gxseries
Bobh, wait. It seems that the slab itself is genuine and that the registry is valid. There is another discussion on another forum about this slab at the moment. http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=17997

There is another discussion on another forum about this slab at the moment. http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=17997 As someone else pointed out earlier in this (our) thread, the certification number is real, but the label is missing the "PL" designation. Besides, there are other things wrong with the slab. And as most of the others posting in the other forum (for which you have kindly provided a link), nobody has said that the coin+slab in the eBay auction is "genuine". The whole thing stinks to high heaven!
bobh
As someone else pointed out earlier in this (our) thread, the certification number is realCorrection -- it was in the other thread -- did you read those messages first? gxseries
I wasn't paying attention to the older logs. Just wished there was some kind of descriptions for each one of them

akdrv
Looks like the 37-1/2 rouble auction was removed by eBay. Good job everyone!
bobh
Looks like the 37-1/2 rouble auction was removed by eBay. Good job everyone! Here is the response I received today from eBay customer service: "Thank you for writing in concerning suspicious coin auction. "The item recently listed with this account was the result of an unauthorized account takeover. We were not aware of this activity until after the listings appeared on the site. "As soon as we became aware that an unauthorized person took over this account, we reacted immediately to resolve the problem. We are currently in the process of restoring the account to its true owner. "If you receive an email offering to complete this sale, we strongly encourage you not to accept the offer. "Such a purchase would take place outside of the eBay site, so it would not be eligible for eBay services, including the eBay Purchase Protection program. For more information, go to: [etc. ... rest snipped]"
