Sir Sisu
Designer: Toivo Jaatinen Au 900, 22mm, 8.64g Mintage Proof 25,000 Obverse: Finnish landscape: pine forest, with a creek becoming a small waterfall Reverse: Night sky of northern Finland: 4 different positions of the sun above fells during the "nightless" summer. Edge: Plain/individually numbered. No person or event was commemorated with this coin. It was issued during the heady excitement of the new euro currency, and its main reason to exist was to be Finland's first euro denominated gold coin. The theme of the coin was to present Finland in some manner and the designer's choice of a nature theme was a safe choice. The main novelty of this issue was that the edge of each coin has been numbered individually.
