They have arrested seven people, including Indonesian and Chinese nationals. The police have seized fake coins worth RM200,000 (S$86,000), coin-making molds and copper used to make the currency, state police chief Hussin Ismail said. The seven were arrested over four days from Aug 9, the official Bernama news agency said. Three Chinese and one Indonesian national were among those arrested. Datuk Hussin told the New Straits Times that Johor police were working with their counterparts in Singapore to determine whether the syndicate was operating across borders. Last Friday, a Malaysian man was arrested at Singapore's Woodlands Checkpoint while trying to smuggle in 2,000 fake Singapore coins. The man, 48, had packed the S$1 coins into several plastic bags and hidden them beneath the driver's seat of his Malaysian-registered car.
