  1. @Dave -

    Good for you I hope you find the New Hampshire.

    I do not have everything catalogued, this is only from 1237 notes. I should go back and do the rest and use proper Classes.

    Here are some counts (of course excluding Humans):

    Mammal = 453

    Birds = 271

    Fish = 64

    Reptile = 41

    Invertebrate = 56

    Amphibian = 7

    Mythical = 57

  2. So there are, or was, the National Bank and Commercial Bank which merged the National Commercial Bank, and there is the Royal Bank. How many banks were there in Scotland and did they always produce their own designs?

  3. I just received this 1955 One Pound Commercial Bank of Scotland note.

    I am trying to figure out the security features if any. I have a 1959 One Pound National Commercial Bank of Scotland that I am also looking for the security features. But i am just not seeing them. Can anyone help identify the security features? Thank you.

  4. Most of the American coin dealers only sell American banknotes. The price gap between “Retail” and “Dealer” prices on America notes is huge. Dealers can get a higher margin because of the bubble in the American banknote market. World notes do not have the same margin. Therefore you may find it hard to locate a dealer that also sells world notes, and if you do they usually sell them at "catalog" price. I rarely buy any notes now from store fronts. In fact I will not sell to a store front either, they buy at such low prices that it is not worth it. You will not break even.

  5. My collection of banknotes is small, only just over 2000 notes, so it is a little bit easier to manage compared to some of the large collections. I use to work in museums so I store my collection just like I would store artifacts. I use Mylar Sleeves, Archival Containers, and I use Desiccant canisters which I bake every once in a while to refresh.

    I originally stored my collection In Archival Boxes in a Fireproof Safe. Boxes are compact and you can store a lot of notes in small space. Boxes make it easy to move things around in the collection. The draw back of a box is that it is hard to view the banknotes. Also, over time the corners break unless you get a good metal edged box. After the fire (my collection was ruined in a fireproof safe, another story), I started to store my collection in Binders. Binders make it easier to view the banknotes. But it is harder to shuffle things around and they take more space.

    I now use:

    Ultra-pro 3 pocket Mylar sleeves (The2Buds)

    Metal Case Desiccant Canisters (Archivalmethods)

    2-1/2’Binders with Slip cover cases (Archivalmethods)
