  1. Having no coinshop nearby doesn't have to be an obstacle.  Watch the advertising forums here and PM the advertisers who have coins for trade or sale.  Letting other members know what you want to acquire can help you find some starter pieces or lots.

Most members here do some buying online and know of good online dealers who are trustworthy.

My thoughts also, Posts what you need in buy or trade areas,

  2. "The 'supersize' seems to show the 1942 over the 1943...that in itself is really odd....... "

This astute observation shows it to be a fake. The "GOD WE TR" showing

as raised on the bottom of Lincolns bust on the 1943 portion of the coin

shows that the 1942 portion was struck over the 1943.

Hmmm if the 42 was struck over the 43 then it is a genuine 43 copper cent ? that would defeat the purpose of a fake !!

  3. Geeze and here it is the weekend and I was doing my best to stay unfocused!!

I guess generalist would apply, even though I specialise in Mercs and small cents, I also have a birth year type set underway for myself and My bride,,

But I also collect or horad other coins , some for trade ,sale and some just because I think they are cool, Like my proof frankies!!

I try to keep or have many different coins to help out my buddies online if I know what they want, I also have a few trading partners that i have developed over the last few years, keeps the stuff changing a little all the time

  4. Ok, We Know For Sure this is A Die Error nickel

    Bought The Nickel For $7.00

    Worth the Money Spent

EVen though it Has been Cleaned

This And The Other Errors Go into My Collection

As For If A Die Crack or Not That's Still In the Air

BTW:How much Would A Cleaned 1917 Die Error Nickel be Worth?

Die cracks generally dont add very much value , we would need to see the whole coin obverse and reverse to give a guess at value .

  5. I'ts a lamination error, where air is trapped under the thin layer of copper.

This is my opinion also , except for the error part, I do not consider these to be errors,

The ones with open holes are the result of the tops of these bubbles breaking away.
