That i didn't know. I honestly thought they'd only been minted in 1797-99 and mintage had ceased around the century change over. Although i've never focus on copper/bronze coins so my knowledge of them is next to nothing.

1893 is a year that sets were produced because it's the year they switched to the Old Head portrait. £5 to 3d set = £5000 5/- to 3d = £1000 Which means if it's a non-gold containing set then £3500 is way, way, way over the price (about 4 times the proper market price). If it has the four gold coins then give or thake another £1000 and you're in the right region.

Never said it did. Although of course if the CP Dollar idea takes off and you need money to buy in stuff to sell for the CP Dollars this should be a good way of helping to make the whole thing self supporting.

Well i'm not sure how this will be recieved, but there's no better way to find out than to throw it into the ring and hope for the best. Well the reverse of the design shows the fictional Temple of Minerva located in the Olympian Islands (also fictional), but this is CP and we can imagine what we like. Minerva is the Roman goddess of War and Wisdom and is associated and often conflated (i.e combined) with her Greek equivalent the goddess Athena (or Athene), who was the patron goddess of the Greek city state of Athens in classical times. The overall design is a segment of the front facade of the temple showing some of the columns. On the original drawing the roof is complete, however here the top triangular segment and the corner segment of the right have been removed so that it would fit on the note. (Which gives the temple an odd appearance granted) The temple is partially inscribed with 'IVPPITER OPTIMVS MAXIMVS' - Jupiter Bestest and Greatest, which was a typical dedication to the god Jupiter (aka Zeus in Greek) in the Classical World, and therefore links in with the old tradition of the Capitoline Triad; Zeus, Hera and Athena (in Greek tradition), Jupiter, Juno and Minerva in the Roman. One might also notice the presence of an Owl in the temple's pediment, the owl was forever associated with the Goddess Minerva/Athena after one took up residence in one of her temples. And consequently became a bird regarded as wise, since Athene was the goddess of wisdom, amongst other things. There were two reasons why Minerva was chosen for this particular note, firstly because she happens to be my favourite of the Græco-Roman goddesses and secondly because she will be forever associated with the coinage as the famous Athenian Owl Tetradrachms shows all too well. Thus to Minerva this note is duly dedicated. These pictures were borrowed from Art, the notes look almost exactly like this except the serial numbers don't have white boxes around and the mint letter will be S rather than A. The notes measure 9.7cm X 6cm, and when held up to the light there is a security strip hidden within that shows up. The two notes are numbered; CPGA 10605 & CPGA 10606. (Please note that the number run from 601-606 were accidentally issued with black mintmarks rather than dark green ones, this has now been corrected and 607 onwards will not have this error. So only 5 of these notes will ever be available as i'm keeping 601 for my own collection). We've already got some accidental errors on the Guinea notes. Luckily Art hasn't printed any of his yet so we managed to get those corrected prior to printing. Unfortunately i had already reeled off some S mint notes and have then found a few problems on the preliminary run of the 20s and 10s. Damn! I was going to destroy the ones i'd done and start again, unfortunately one set has already been officially released and is now in the Netherlands. So i figure i'm gonna just let these few problem notes out with the regular correct issues. I don't generally like sending substandard stuff out but they cost me enough to print!

I suggest 'Peeps' as in Coin Peeps.

I was going to say Anton i've been there and had the big brass keys to every room on this site and i never found anything. Although i was going to issue special commemorative £4 and £12 notes... but i thought better of it! That and the 13 Peeps note.

Yep that's right, these Coinpeople Dollars are being issued by the 'Bank of Coinpeople', the Short Snorters and the Guineas (for the British Popular Coin Idol project) are being issued by the 'Imperial Bank of Coinpeople'. The respective banks are based in different countries.

If i'd seen this sooner! Ah the red, when i intially took the map all the continents were coloured in, i managed to shift most of it, but the 300 and odd different (minutely so) shades of red, green and blue around the edges was gona take a heck of alot of time to shift properly, and anyway the outline actually helps the design a little i find. Keeps the countries looking slimmer... (and the right shape).

Well that's the prices they charge 40p per sheet for colour, it's only 5p for black and white. If my own printer still worked i could have printed dozens off now for a fraction of that price! (actually about the same as yours). The S mint would have been ploughing out notes unstoppable. As it is that's unlikely at present.

So British Large Size 1997 50p coins are not modern because they were replaced with smaller ones that year and were demonestised in early 1998? And pre-euro coinage like DMs and Francs issued in the last year before the euro are also not modern?

Ah well there we go then. A mint will be rarer still. So if we make 7 full short snorter sets, six S mint ones and an A mint set. Four S sets free to a good home (already decided), one set stays with me, and the other one will be auctionned off as and when i'm ready. So getting them shall be tricky.

Oli was kind enough to send me some preliminary examples of these notes denominated in Ducats rather than Dollars. Ducat feels far more international that say Dollar. I feel a denomination change would be a good move, makes the forum feel more inclusive.

I agree with Art. Fantastic, i loved the design before with Shrek on, but was inclined against because of the copyright. But now there is no copyright issue so i heartly back this one, 100% as the best of the lot. If McDoo doesn't want it, then i do!

If anyone else wants a preliminary run of official 'S' mint Snorters then they will begin to appear in the auction section shortly. Depending upon demand this might just be one or two sets to be auctioned off or as many as five more sets (although five is unlikely because of printing restrictions on this end as it costs me quite alot to print them, about 80c per note as i don't have my own printer). Going on the demand so far the free sets were snapped up in a morning, and a relatively quiet morning at that. Anyone who does not get an 'S' mint set will have to wait for the official release of the 'A' mint sets by Art, these A sets will be the ones used in the short snorter run and thus will have a far higher mintage.

What the Short Snorters? If you want a set then i can print a set off. The ones i print off will probably differ in paper to the regular 'A' Mint sets, and they will have an 'S' mintmark "Subsidary Mint". Mintmark's not the right word i'm sure but it'll do. If you want a full set of them ahead of schedule you only have to ask on here in this thread. This goes for everyone else too, although i should point out that the 'S' marked notes will only be printed off in very small numbers, perhaps five full sets, maybe 10 at a push if demand warrants it. (Of which i'll keep one set myself). Oh and i'll send out the first four sets free of charge. First four sets will be numbered; CPSS 01602-CPSS 01605 (1 Snort) CPSS 05602-CPSS 05605 (5 Snorts) CPSS 10602-CPSS 10605 (10 Snorts) CPSS 20602-CPSS 20605 (20 Snorts) CPSS 50602-CPSS 50605 (50 Snorts) CPSS 99602-CPSS 99605 (100 Snorts) Sets will be provided with the last three serial numbers on each note matching. I'm not being awkward for the sake of it here McDoo, but i agree with Stujoe. You might wonder why i seem to be trying to put the brakes on here. But i have watched members of an entire coin community have legal action taken against them. Some indeed might have said or done things which would leave themselves open. Others well, we're still not entirely sure what they did to get on the list but on it they got for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And McDoo never underestimate what turns up on ebay, i've seen people selling prosthetic testicles and glass eyes. (Which was quite a joke on this forum at one point), and i've even seen promotional material being sold on ebay... stuff that you'd never expect to turn up in a million years. You simply cannot be too careful. Well that's my position on the topic. If you want to go ahead and use the Shrek theme then i hope you're successful, but i want to be left well out of it. I've got enough stuff on at the moment without walking into a copyright dispute.
