I was watching that farthing, Clive. Good buy!
-
Wasn't he the first to 'number' himself?
-
I've thought about it but up in this remote part of Rheged, I can't see me attending meetings and the other benefits don't outweigh using the money on another coin!
-
Sorry I missed it! Maybe next time???( must buy the wife a present before asking!)
-
Blast! Where was I?
-
Did you mortgage your house for that beauty?
-
Mint runs of the Plantagenet era are my bag too, but I'm staying with those of Edward Ist at the moment. Trouble is, as you progress, the types you need dry up and become very expensive! Serves us right for taking up numismatics

Pure nostalga! I've just bought a 1966 Seaby's "Standard Catalogue of British coins". A bit of a rough state but for 50p not a bad bit of memorabilia!
-
To be REALLY pedantic. William I was Norman (That's a french invader)!!
-
Would a collection of those tokens the mint put in the set become another collection?

As a quick aside, I have a coin of the same series, 50 centimes 1923. I was going to post a picture but it appears that Omnicoin is off line!

There's a good Brit one over on Predecimal.

Makes you wonder how two different denominations appear on the same planchet!

First Scottish monarch, then i'd be thinking Kenneth McAlpin.
Would he be the one of construction fame?
-
Tiff, is that 2006 one of the 'ribbon' coins with the ribbon removed?
-
I think you're probably correct. It's a pity you can't quite make out the obverse legend! The later Roman and the Eastern Byzantine do seem to be simmilar!
-
My newest indulgence and identification project. I am thinking maybe 1600's European? Any ideas? It's about 19mm and appears to be silver.
Byzantine. Spinks has a full catalogue. Sorry, but I sent it back to the library only last week, so I can't help further!

I received - Nothing! Nowt! Nada!
You guys are just too rich for my league. It takes me a month to be able to get enough to buy one coin!
Don't you feel sorry for me?

Would you class a 'mereaux' as a jeton, albeit early? (See my avatar)

Two cut Halfpennies, one Richard I, one John. Sold as "Two hammered coins". It's made my day!

Sorry! Clive.
Iwas so engrossed in the thread, I forgot where I was. Then, of course, when I realised my error, there was no way to delete!
