  1. I haven't sorted my lists by continent, but these (this is the low value of a set of 3) may be the only three from Banque de France in South America. There are quite a few more recent notes printed by Oberthur in France, but they don't have that "French look" to them.

  2. I had the luck to be in France about 15 years ago, and saw notices in the subway for a paper money show being held in an art gallery. I made a point to get over there, to find a stunning display from the BdF. Not only was essentially every 20th century note shown, but all sorts of proofs, trials, colors, etc. They also had all sorts of historical information relating to the notes. The display was quite stunning, with beautiful lighting and enclosures. It was probably the point at which I got serious about collecting. I wish they had produced a book with all these depicted.

  3. Madison, thanks for posting all the pics, you've got quite the collection there...

Artist is Clement Serveau, engraver is Deloche, printed Banque de France. Can't get much more French than that ;)

1926 is tough year to find and it's a very colorful note........ :ninja:

  4. I don't know, actually. Yugoslavia's gone through a lot of turmoil right around that time, so perhaps they had the printing presses running overtime...

Here's a new note for today (obviously not the one from Yogoslavia that I'm still waiting for). This one from Germany, and the other note in the set, are the last notes printed by Banque de France outside of her ex-colonies (for which notes are printed to this day).

    Nice note--

This is hard note to come by......Anybody can tell me why this note is so big...?

  5. Hi All,

I've been looking for a banknote forum, this looks like it! I went back though a lot of posts and enjoyed the photos very much. Makes it nice to see some of these notes, and pencil down a future "I NEED that NOTE" comment on my list. :ninja:

So I'll offer up my banknote collection, or at least the part of it that's online, for your enjoyment and comment. It is France and French-Printed notes and I've been putting it together for quite a few years. I just recently reorganized and added greatly to the web site. I am particularly interested in additional resources and documentation on details of printing and what-not for these notes, if you have any links or books I should have. I am not exactly sure, for example, that the notes I have listed as French Printed are actually such (and am certainly open to correction).

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi Dave

Beautiful site and lovely notes . Welcome !! Needless to say, I admire your collection....

  6. Well I'm no gold buff, but as gold prices rise the prices of the gold coins are bound to as well, the opposite will occur when the gold prices fall. The higher quality coins will attract higher values and more so from investors as gold is seen to be a good investment when it comes to gold. As the investors wipe the market clean of gold coins, the ones that collectors own will become scarce and this will push the value up.

    thanks

  7. Glad I could help, they are very nice coins which I'm sure anyone would be proud to own. Congrats!

    Cheers,

    Clive.

One general question is '' how much the value of gold is effecting this kind of gold pieces? can you give me the kind of ratio in relationship to the rarity of a coin to the value of the gold.'' CHEERS again
