  1. I like that Sudan set. I bought the set mainly because of that 2 Pound music note - but in hand the whole set is actually very nice, and I'm glad I got the set and not just the 2 pound note.

  2. I don't know your budget, but Aussie predecimal doesn't come cheap these day, the note I posted above is one I picked up earlier this year in VF condition (a nice VF though) for over A$650 (as of today that translate to US$650!). I'm trying to get as much Aussie predecimal I can afford while I can, especially the George V & George VI issues.

I picked up one of these earlier this week

All my notes were picked up 15 or more years ago when price was very cheap then. When I did pickup this 10 pounds, i did not realise it was a 1st prefix note until recently....a lucky find and it is an 'unc'note

  3. Mercantile Bank was a much smaller bank, and had far fewer banknotes in circulation - which is regrettable for collectors - because they are wonderfully designed and in deep deep red:

Notes were last issued dated 1974, the bank was sold to Citibank in 1984 and the name disappeared. Subsequently the assets of the bank were sold to Bank of Tokyo - Mitsubishi in 1987 and the bank completely disappeared.

    ''CORRECTION''

The Mercantile Bank became part of HSBC GROUP in 1959, its H.K. branch continued to issue notes until 1974, even though responsibility for its note issue was transferred to the HONG KONG BANK IN 1966..... I WAS THERE.... IT IS QUOTED FROM '' MONEY IN THE BANK'' by JOE CRIBB-LONDON-1987- :ninja: And I do not believe a BRITISH Bank under BRITISH RULE at that time would be sold to a foreign entity............

  4. Thank you Dave, I've been eying the lists for a nice one to show up, and finally made the move. I'm not sure this one's quite as nice as the one that got away, but its very good and fit right in to my collection since there was a spot waiting for it ;)

    Dave

  5. I got these notes in today. I have no idea abou the date on teh Chinese note - it seems to be unlisted, and there's not much information on it - no serial numbers, etc. Maybe it's local Currency?

THe Paraguay note has been on my list for a while and I finally just got it.

  7. I see your good taste in banknotes travels into Iberia too, eh? Spanish banknotes are always a treat to behold aren't they? These are harder to find in UNC than one might suppose, too. Surprisingly, the prices dont' fully reflect that scarcity for those higher grades ... yet.

    Congrats on the new notes!

THANKS DAVE ! Still not able to get my favorite AMERICAN note yet....
