Nice notes MMMM. And Scotishmoney!
I've always admired those first two notes. Very neat backs on them.

That's wonderful, how large is it?
This one ts 6cm tall by just shy of 10 cm. wide. Like Obsolete notes, the borders on these are rarely even, and when they are, I suspect trimming was likely done by a past seller.

Got my South Carolina colonial in today. Only two more left - Georgia and New Hampshire.

I received a birthday gift from a sincere friend of mine today. Two Egypt notes that I did not have - and replacement notes, to boot! I'm a lucky guy to have such a good friend - Thanks!
-
The Fiji notes seem to have a better design than most newer issues with those intense primary colors. Congrats on getting a nice set.

Love the Lire, MauMau! great notes!

England - 5 Pounds

Nice Note! I've always admired this one.

Nice set of notes - Congrats! I like those French notes.
I got a myself a nice colonial note - and now I have to build up my funds for the next one. So I'm patiently waiting. Patiently waiting. Patiently.
But the Colonial I got before that (posted Nov 23rd) was inscribed on the back - it was a Christmas goodie to someone else long ago.

Striking blue color on that note MMMM. Took me a while looking at it, noting the animals and produce, then lastly I saw the shileds adn boomerang in the middle.
Nice note!

Got this in the mail yesterday - glad to have it by Christmas, so I didn't have to worry about it. Massachusetts Bay COlonial note from 1780 - 20 Dollars.

I'm afraid I can't help on your questions, though I'd like to say that this is a cool note! I really like the odd denomination.

Nice Bank Note Dogs!
Dogs are cool. Hope to see more of them on banknotes!

Both the note you've shown, known commonly as the Big Head deasign, and the colorized note, were printed in 2006. The colorized version came out later. Thus the two designs with the same year.

Looks legitimate to me. It was an issue prior to our current 5 dollar bill. Here's a link to the BEP showing the three most commonl found fives in circulation:

My latest purchase. Colonial Virginia 3 Pounds - or Twelve Crowns - or Sixty Shillings - take your pick!

I actually like that eagle a lot. Another one I like is the one on this Albanian note, though it really isn't an eagle so much as it is an eagle cutout.
-
I like that note, Scottishmoney - Great addition to your collection.
MMMM - Thats one of my favorite lions!
Here's what the mailman delivered today.

Welcome to Coin People, Steve!
That's a great note there! Been collecting long?
-
Yes, it was for me too. I'm very happy it's online again. I second that thanks!

Ah, yes eagles. Of course those - but I suppose I'm too familiar with them to make it an obvious choice. Kinda like living in a resort town and wanting to get away from it all - Can't see the forest for the trees sort of thing.
My all time favorite eagle is the 1918 $1 FRBN
Followed by the Black Eagle 1899 $1 Silver Certificate
But the earliest American Eagle I have come across is actually on a Colonial Note from New York back in 1776 - He's looking a little like a pigeon, but it's really supposed to be an eagle.

What Animal do you think strikes the best portrait on a banknote? Like Madison's Congo lion?
There are several that I think are portrayed rather well, such as horses and elephants, and some that I just like to see that aren't depicted too often, such as crocodiles. But I have to agree with you that the lion is probably the best pose so far. This is probably die to it's proliferation on banknotes due to it's link with the ruling class. They are not only wild animals, but on the crests, emblems, etc. of many countries. Some of my favorites that I have include:
Ethiopia
French West Africa
Sweden
There are many more that have lions on them, but these are some of my favorites in my collection. There are many different types of stylized lions out there as well, and some of those are also quite striking.

Nice note - congratulations! I've read before that these notes are fairly hard to come by, especially in nice condition. Are they pretty scarce in your opinion?
Congrats, Dave!
