The paper is more like tissue paper - not the Kleenex type, but the type that clothes are sometimes wrapped in when placed in a gift box. The paper seems stronger (though I haven't tried to experiment with it) but it's very similar.

Got in a new Iceland note - blue version this time. Pretty basic notes, wartime issue on very thin paper.

Thanks. I'm not working on a particular series. Rather, I'm going for a type set of sorts. I say 'of sorts' as there will be some I will likely not be able to get, due to the large price tags that they command. For the $5 set, I have yet to get the following: 1914 Large Size Red seal (came *THIS* close to getting one last week, but thought twice and am waiting) 1918 Large Size Blue seal 1923 Silver Certificate - Porthole (likely one I will not get) 1929 National Type 2 1902 Large Size National Plain Back 1902 Large Size National Date Back 1902 Large Size National Red Seal (might never get this one either) I'm simultaneously working on a set of 10's as well, so whatever comes my way first.

I got in two more 5's today. A 1969 FRN that heralded in the new design of the FRN seal, with the motto in English instead of Latin. and a 1929 FRBN from New York.

Well, then here's a change of pace. Brown and White only. Iceland 1 Krona from 1941. Printed on very thin tissue like paper.

I prefer the IBNS standard until it gets to the UNC category. Whereas there can be ranges for all other grades, many think that "it is eaither UNC or it is not". I'd be Okay with that BUT - most everyone else is not. It is a very scarce dealer/seller who grades an UNC to the "it is either UNC or it is not" level. Most will call notes UNC with a small corner bend, bumped corners, counting marks, etc. It is also accepted by many collectors as well. So I have also learned ot accept the fact that there is a range to be had with UNC notes as well. As for the TPG grades, I have said it before and I'll say it again - There needs to be a "third Party" (IBNS?) standard that TPG's should be held to for their grading. Having different standards for each company, even if they are close, is not acceptable. In my past experience, I have had to "grade" things that I would inspect - Long ago, the field I worked in adopted grading/inspection standards to ensure that there was quality behind them, and that one acceptable item would pass as acceptable anywhere else in the world, without question. Inspectors were also certified to that standard. A smart company would be able to set this up, make an acceptable stnadard. Then, enforcement would be up to the public, if they all wanted to have 'certified grades to a set standard by certified inspectors, no matter the company. If it were me, I'd also get away from the 70 point scale. I understand its been around for a while, but why 70 instead of 100??? It bothers me, I tell ya! 70 is a "C" grade in my opinion - but that's just me. My rant done, I guess I use a combination of generally accepted standards, defaulting to the IBNS standard in most cases, especially as I collect world notes, and not just US notes.

Nice red note

I got these three new notes from Kuwait yesterday. I like them enough, but they have that 'photoshop' look to them that just seems too,,, well, too many different design styles cut and pasted together. These are fairly small, 11, 12 and 13 centimeters long by 7 centimeters.(about 4 1/4, 4 3/4, and 5 1/8 by 2 1/2 Inches). .

Six years on? A man of faith, for sure. Seems to me that one could at least post something in a few days, nevermind years. I say start a new series with another coin. "Libby" is gone.

Sorry, it was a though night last night and late when I uploaded this. The small sized 10 dollar notes issued before this 1928-B series were "numerical" notes, or "numbered districts", because they had numbers in the black seal instead of letters. 1=A, 2=B, etc. so this note would have been number 7 in prior issues. Hope that explains it better. It's late again -for me, anyway.
