  1. a few more banknotes, including an upgrade for a Yugo note, a few from Uzbekistan, and I took a baby step towards expanding my collection and got an Albanian note. I always planned on eventually collecting Albanian coins/currency, as it was a Socialist state (although it withdrew from the Warsaw Pact and aligned itself with China and Viet-Nam) and was considered part of the Iron Curtain.

  2. I like those CoAs, too. One of these days, I will eventually be able to afford the better commems like you get, Tiffi. Only 8 more years of child support, and then maybe we will see.

Speaking of all the new mint packaging, etc., have you seen the new packaging the Bank of Moscow is doing? They are issuing "year set" folders for the Ancient Cities series, among others.

Also have one for the "Ministries" issues of 2002, and even the WWII series of 2 roubles in 2001.

  3. Hit the coin slot of the USA Today outside work today (this is a regular score for me, I get at least 1 quarter a week, usually more). Lo and behold, we have a winner. Tossed it into my pocket without checking. Got home, and went to toss it into my jar, checking it first, as I am gathering some SQ for a British trading friend. Not a state quarter ;), not a silver quarter, either ;). Not even a US quarter  Yep a Canadian quarter.. Not a normal caribou quarter that I am used to seeing, but rather a 2005 Saskatchewan quarter :ninja: . Which reminds me... one of the waiters got a Canadian $5 note for a tip, so swapped him for a US$5. He thinks he got the better end of that deal, but I got the hockey note, so I was happy.

  4. only one thin little envelope in the mail today. but that thin little envelope had 11 zeroes in it. Yes, 11 zeroes, the daddy of the series. I now have the full run 5000 (5 with 3 zeroes), up to 500 billion (5 with 11 zeroes). They look pretty cool all lined up next to each other. Maybe I will find some way to mount them as a full group and hang them on the wall.

Thanks to McDoo for acquiring this note on my behalf, at a more than reasonable price.

  5. FAO-german.JPG

The 1970 FAO 2-coin set from Yugoslavia, with the German insert. I already have this set with the English insert. Next will be to find the third and final set, with the Serbo-Croat insert. Included in the bulk lot that had this set was also a Yugoslavia 1953-55 7-coin mint set, which I will be listing for auction later this evening, and a pair of other Yugoslavian sets, which are duplicates, and may become available, soon. Also included was a Russian set, seen in this thread.
