  1. As I understand it, they use the security tokens since the same sized coins are worth a lot less than the cost of the call and some phones you can use the coins but it takes more of them.
  2. You wouldn't be referring to this kind. was my next one for tomorrow!
  3. I have seen either this style or close to it awarded for games of skill at the old time arcades, Skee-ball etc instead of paper tickets. Of course as the token wore out, lost removed the paper tickets and the dispensing mechs would have been cheaper than replacing the tokens. Although this one is in the transit style token and could be from the old style fruit, gum slot machines instead of nickles.
  4. They really didn't want to pay out in cash on this one!
  5. It looks more like a shell and Lincoln is missing from the reverse!
  6. Interesting item found in a bulk bag of assorted tokens. It appears that there is a shell over the reverse. And it conforms very well. The obverse most of the rim is very tight to edge. Haven't worked at really seeing about the edge. It isn't a magic trick, that I have seen or heard about. I can't come up with a reason for a zinc shell on a 1963 penny. Any members have any clue?
  7. Here is a chocolate toned art round I picked up, It appears to me to be an applied patina as it is to even and smooth on both sides. Coloring is a deeper brown
  8. I haven't seen any other designs that have come up for sale @ the LCS. Interesting info
  9. It seems some companies will do anything to US coinage to make a buck! Here is a gold plated penny. It is no wonder some people from other countries have such a skewed view of our country. Glad I found it in the 50% off bargain bin
  10. This Michigan dated !974 Bicentennial Official medallion is weird that it came out in !974 but was a Bicentennial one. I guess they figured the would save some more or make some profit by selling it for 3 years.
  11. Depends on whether it was official or commercial, I know to me it felt like it went on for two hundred years. The commercial went on longer for profit
  12. I was told that it was started a a mock off off the Maple leaf, but so far there are 3 different reverses that i have found on line
  13. Here is another LCS buys his silver rounds and art bars from a wholesaler when they don't come in off the street. Its by the number of ounces he wants and has no choice in subject matter. mostly they are assorted sell backs and slow moving stock from assorted mints. Don't know what the point of this round was intended for or if it was one made up of two different purpose dies to get mileage out of them
  14. Well folks! that's all for this bulk buy. Have another album from part of a collection that I haven't photoed yet
