    Printed by Forbes Lithographic, Boston, MA; numbered and separated by Bureau of Engraving and Printing
    Front of fractional notes "Commerce" engraved by Marcus Baldwin.1 dollar note front "Composition and Reflection" by Bella Lyon Pratt. 5 and 10 dollar notes front design "Mechanics". Back of all notes contains the Great Seal of the US.
    There were multiple printings for this series. Some sources state two printings while others indicate four. The First, Second, and Third printing included all denominations while the Fourth did not include the 5 and 10 dollar notes. Sources agree that printings One and Two contained all denominations.

     

    Denominations: 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, 50 cents, 1 dollar, 5 dollars, and 10 dollars.

    This is an example for Japan, Military Currency produced for the use of allied troops and the local Japanese population at the end, and in the period immediately after WWII (Pick 1994: 751). They were used in Okinawa till 1958 (Pick 1994: 751). Courtesy of Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences
