An interesting treatment of Tsar Nicholas with the turbanised crown, almost as though he was given something of an Oriental treatment with the appearance of his crown. The interesting juxtaposition of these medals with the Romanovs is that they were all related in one way or another to the royals in Germany, most notably the Tsaritsa having been a German princess before she married Nicholas. This war caused considerable discomfort for the Saxe Coburg Gothas in Britain, all the various German royals, and of course the Romanovs and it brought about many accusations from anti-monarchists of collusion etc.

Your 'historical' comments are always welcome as I am still a novice to the history surrounding WWI in europe. These medals do tie events together throughout the war albeit from the German view.
