Iowa Bank Note

Recommended Posts

I have a $3.00 bank note from the city of Wapello, Iowa, it is from the 19th century, sometime prior to the Civil war. I am very new to this and I would really like to know if it is worth anything and if it is legitimate. If there is anybody here that can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

If it is the same as teh one listed below at eBay, it is going for $449.00 Wapello link

That price seems to be high however. Heritage Auctions have sold a few of these in the past (some in better condition, some in worse. There were two in similar condition to the one in the link above that HA sold: In 2010 one sold for 373.75 and in 2011 one sold for 218.50. The condition of your note will be most important.

If you have a photo or scan, we'd love to see it. :)

Thanks for the help, but I just found out that it is a collecters edition, reprint, that used exactly the same printing plates, and it is in very good condition. When I get a chance I will scan a picture of it so you can see it and maybe tell me if it is actually worth something.
