joshkellogg
I came across this at the small market I work at. I find a lot of wheat ear pennies, and have found some interesting nickels. Anyway, this 1957 cent caught my eye because it's shiny, and in good shape. When I brought it home, I busted out the magnifying glass, and thought "In God We Trust" may be a weak doubled die. Any opinions? I'm not too concerned with value, I just like finding neat things. cvargo
Hard to tell but it looks like there could be some doubling especially on the 'God' and 'RUS'.
joshkellogg
That's what I thought. It's weak so I was unsure.

thedeadpoint
Have you checked coppercoins.com and their fabulous die variety database? They have even minor double dies on their. Definitely worth a look.

SMS
If you can, you should take a natural colored straight on closeup photo of the suspected areas. Any doubling would be noticeable even if it is only slightly so. If the "doubling" does not appear in the closeup with a photo taken straight on, then chances are it is MDD and not DD. From your photos, it looks like there may be die trails. Not doubled die, but still an interesting find if so. Just hard to tell from the angle you are trying to take the photos. And if it is "shiny" as you put it, then you could be getting an illusion caused by the luster and reflection.
joshkellogg
I think it may be a deteriorated die actually, the reflection is less obvious up close in person. Thank you for the knowledgeable reply! Know anything about quarters? This is a 1964d, I think it might be a transitional variety, C. Also, there is clear(this time) doubling on the mint mark, but I can't determine if its a strike or dye... Any ideas? https://picasaweb.google.com/m/viewer?fgl=true&pli=1&gsessionid=-IkjisSD8iRbh2owDka2gQ#photo/kellogg.josh/5665656813541950097/5665656812188165682
