Finn235
What year is it? As the dies get worn out, they can cause what is called "Machine Doubling" which carries no premium over face value. If any part of the die is doubled (i.e. "UNITED STATES") then the rest of the die should also be doubled ("of AMERICA")if this is a case of true doubling. As for the dot, the coin seems very badly damaged, so the dot is probably just a scratch. If it is post-1982 (specifically '83-92 or so) parts of the copper coating will "bubble" up from the zinc core, I believe as part of a chemical reaction between the zinc and copper (correct me if I'm wrong!) Sometimes this may be very even; other times it may be more concentrated in a single area. Larger pictures would be helpful, but I don't think there is anything special here. just carl
True that the damage to the coin could have caused the dot but a better photo would be required. Also, what is the date. The coin does appear to have been rather excessively damaged.
