mmarotta
In the "World Banknote" Forum, a question about Tibetan writing came up. Kőrösi Csoma Sándor First name is Sándor = Alexander Family names = Kőrösi Csoma Hungarian, like other Asian languages, puts the family name first and the given name last. He traveled to Tibet as much to seek the roots of the Hungarian people and their language, as for the intellectual challenge of bringing the Tibetan language to the West. He was subsidized at least twice by stipends from British sources. Nice enough thumbnail biography on Wikipedia under "Sándor Kőrösi Csoma." Fuller biography in English at this Hungarian site: http://csoma.mtak.hu/en/csoma-elete.htm If you goto Don's World Coin Gallery, for Hungary, and scroll down the link will take you to a nice scan.
