bill
I'm not an expert in early mint medals, but your question could take two forms: Was this an early mint medal (i.e. 1865 to 1890s)? That might in fact be a yes answer. Was it actually used, i.e. presented, as an Indian Peace medal. That would be very difficult to answer without a pedigree, i.e. something tracing it to the original recipient (and without tracing it to an illegally pot hunted grave). In the former case, you should be able to get it certified. In the latter case, you would really need the appropriate documentation. The fact that it is not holed or otherwise mounted (are there traces of a mount)

tularetokens
Hi Bill....... Was this an early mint medal (i.e. 1865 to 1890s)? That might in fact be a yes answer. That appears to be the Question.. I know most real ones were worn with pride by the Indian, had a hole drilled, or a frame around it with an eye to wear it with. And would show normal wear as a circulated coin. I don't have any documentation,so getting it certified would be the next step. I wonder if PCGS does this type of medal?? I'll have to investigate that Thank you Deadpoint Tim
