Davide
I have this coin. Bitkin said R2 (nr. 334) Conros Catalogue (last edition), list as common. I have tried this variant old style (public auctions and private listing) but I have not found one only exemplar. Instead, of the type new style (Bitkin 335) I have found many. In your opinion, my coin is effectively Bitkin 334 and, if yes, has reason Bitkin or Conros? Thank You Davide
STEVE MOULDING
Neither is correct, though Conros is much closer to the truth. It's not R2, but is scarcer than the new eagle (but not rare). In my research, I've seen 25% of the old eagle, and 75% of the new eagle. This agrees with Julian who rates the 1848 with older eagle as scarce (but not rare) in his book. Steve
Davide
Steve thanks, I think that you have said right. The coin is not rare as it indicates Bitkin. But it is that (334), just? Have good evening Davide
