Obv: GENERAL INSTITUTION FOR THE BLIND .BIRMINGHAM. COMMENCED BY PRIVATE BENEVOLENCE 1846.

ESTABLISHED AS A PUBLIC INSTITUTION 1848.

Rev: THIS BUILDING WAS COMMENCED 23rd APRIL 1851 AND COMPLETED 22nd JULY 1852

This medal was issued by Allen & Moore to commemorate the completion of a new building for the General Institute for the Blind at Carpenter Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham. Bronze 51mm.
