corkykile
Someone has a stunning 1942 Jefferson nickel for sale. There is no mint mark and I cannot find any information on whether or not the 42 Jeffs that some might not have the P mintmark. I see the 1944 without a mintmark is a counterfeit. Please advise if you know for certain which the 42 should be. Thanks, Corky
Dockwalliper
1942(no MM) and 1942D coins were made in the regular nickel copper alloy. 1942P &1942S were made in the wartime silver alloy.

Thank you for the quick reply. I was a bit confused by the information in the Red Book. You have certainly helped me make a more informed decision. I very very very much appreciate you and all you great helpers on CP. Corky

Corky Not sure what Red Book your looking at but the 2008 edition is rather clear on that. They show the 1942, 42D and the 42D/D all above the Wartime Silver Alloy Nickels. The they proceed to list all the ones below the term of War Time.
