British coins

Recommended Posts

Hi ,

I am no expert , however I have dug out my late Dad's old coin collection 1874 4 penny piece to 1967 halfpenny...and cannot identify one coin.

I do hope you guys can help.

It's a silver coin very thin. appx 5/8inch dia (16mm) with no milled edge.

Someone has put a 0.5mm hole in for a pendant.

Reverse has Victoria with crown and long hair flowing..middle aged.

Front has l"v" ,s all around the perimeter

Large letter B with smaller E inside it- British Empire I think.

No other markings I can see.

If you folk can help on what it is a nd maybe value that would be great.

thanks ,

Paul

Its a silver queen Victoria "jubilee head" threepence that has had the reverse ingraved with peoples initials. It is what is known as a love token. Not worth much to a colector as it has damaged but its still an interesting coin. Hope this helps.
