  1. This is what I got today from a thrift store here, will post pictures soon as I can if anyone is interested.

1967 one peso Bank of Mexico

1968 one dollar Bahamas Monetary Authority (2 of them)

1990 one dollar Bank of Jamaica

1992 two dollars Bank of Jamaica

1991 five dollars Bank of Jamaica (2 of them)

So now someone please tell me what is the most I should have paid because I don't know anything about this currency, they looked nice and I bought them. I will blame all who have posted such nice pics of bank notes and forced me into addiction! :ninja:;)

I'm in awe that you found currency at a thrift story to buy. That's what makes collecting so fun, that you never know what you'll find and where. Enjoy your bank notes no matter what you did or should have paid for them. It's the thrill of the hunt that gets addicting don't you think, and making "mistakes" is all part of the learning process should you have paid too much.

I look forward to seeing your scans of your thrifty store finds. We have some from the Bahamas---a 1/2, $1, $3, $5 and a $10 plus some coins---that we picked up on vacation back in the late 1960s. I've never placed much value on them monetary wise because I assume all tourist did/do the same thing, but they trigger some great memories of that trip no matter what they are valued at on the collector market.

  2. You are right that they are plenty of US collectors of obsolute banks but unfortunately there is low interest from Singapore collectors ( just my opinion ). ;) Thanks for sharing the listed sold pieces. :ninja:

My husband's ancestors owned property in old Singapore, Michigan---long before mother nature reclaimed the town. He really treasures his $3.00 banknote from Singapore so I was thrilled to find this message board thread. I printed it out for him to read. Thanks, everyone, for sharing this information!
