Neat. Have you been watching the prices on these little beauties in the PCGS/NGC holders on ebay?
No, I have looked now and then but I'm not planning on selling my three, so I haven't paid close attention. Everyone says they will drop after this wave - I'm sure they will dip some, but I'm not so sconvinced that they'll go to the cellar as some insist.

Update: checked again and my gold order 42927xxx, which hit my credit card on the 28th, was shipped today, June 3rd.
-
My order has been sitting at 6/30 for weeks but today they hit my credit card for the gold BHOF's and the status has suddenly changed to "In stock and reserved" - I hope that means they are shipping soon!

You mean weird stuff like guitar shaped coins?
Ayup. And "coins" with thermometers, or shaped like maps or that fold up into boxes..
-
They are numismatic items because wealthy and powerful people bought and sold them as such, sealing their pedigree forever. This is political reality.

I believe they have a bulk import capability. You'd have to bulk export on PCGS as as spreadsheet of some type and then do the import on NGC.
I only saw it for NGC coins. Other than that, it looks like one at a time? I'll check again.

I actually started using the NGC stuff more because they allow me to include NGC, PCGS and NCS slabbed coins in my Registry Sets.
That I did not know! I'm definitely going to go look, thanks.
(later) I wish they could do pcgs lookups and bulk imports. It would be a lot of work to transfer to there now.

Too much trouble, sorry. Oh, well.

I was just about to upload a picture of a capped bust half I bought recently but I see "You have exceeded your allotted disk space for attachments"
Is that because I haven't been here very long or is it some other limitation??

That's a big honkin' coin! Is the restrike from the original dies?
I've never been entirely clear on that.
This http://www.so-calleddollars.com/Events/Continental_Dollars.html would imply yes, but other coins restruck by Bashlow were made from copies of dies.

This is a badly beat up 1816.
1816 was "The Year without a summer" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer). I like this coin in spite of its condition because it has so much character. Imagine how many hands it passed through, how many times it bounced on a store counter or jingled in the pocket of someone riding horseback on some urgent errand.

Nice haul. I'm very tempted by this coin. I guess because of the shape.
Yes, that does make it interesting. I hope they don't start pumping out a lot of weird stuff after this, though.

Another beauty. You have a great collection. By the way, I enjoyed your blog and encourage others to take the time to stop by and read a bit.
Thank you. I'm never satisfied with it, but I keep trying.

Looks very nice. How'd you do on the slabbing?
Sent four proof clad, four silver.
One clad PR70DCAM, 2 silvers and the rest were PR69DCAM
Still waiting for gold from the mint

Happy Birthday YeOldeCollector!!!!

You really think we tell the truth about our birthday on forums like this? The only part that's ever the truth for me is the year - unless it's my bank, a loan or the IRS, I'm not giving the true month and day.
Birthday is an important piece of information needed for identity fraud. The year is enough for places like this.
