Hi everyone,
Need a bit of help in positively identifying this token I recently won on a well known auction site.
On one side is the wording KORN HAUS BERN around the coat of arms of Bern, Switzerland, whilst the reverse appears to be a stylized ''1'' and the letters MAS underneath.
Assuming this is the Corn Market built in 1711 to 1715, does anyone know what this token is. Is it a form of tally or a trade token? Is it rare at all?

Aquatic Cove, Jefferson Street, San Francisco

I think it is somewhere in California.
If you look at the flag, it has a bottom band with the ending letters BLIC back to front

Hi,
Purchased this token at an auction on Tuesday evening but cannot identify which market it is from.
Spitalfields, Billingsgate, Covent Garden, Brentford, Faringdon, Boro Market etc.
Can anyone point me in the right direction.
It is the Unicorn Trading co and is made by R Neal 49 Percival St, London
Thank you for looking and possibly helping.

Hi everyone,
Anyone out there who knows about Hammered Silver Dirham coins, from Iran/Iraq/Persia etc? Believe they were used in Britain by Vikings as currency.
Found this one, any idea of date/ruler?
Measures approx. 25mm in diameter, pocket scales say 2.3g, passes test for silver.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Latest purchase from auction website....
13mm 1880 Queen Victoria Six Pence - legend reads ''D & Co's Toy Money'' , die axis 180 degrees.
From what I can find out, this is a very scarce denomination in what is a scarce series of miniature coins.
Does anybody have any information on these particular coins. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I've had some contacts at the Birmingham History Forum do some research for me.
William Read was a brewer at 30-31 Cherry Street Birmingham and appears in various Birmingham Trade Directories in the 1850's. The 1848 directory doesn't list him, so the realiest he could be there is 1849 and by 1862's directory he isn't there, so the latest date is 1861.
So, the token is dated between 1849 and 1861, hence it being in Josef Neumanns book of 1865.
Thanks to everyone for their input and help.

Hi Schutzenfester,
Can't open your link to see what you mean.

Morning everyone,
I've recently won this token in an auction and am trying to identify this token. I am told that it might be from Birmingham.
Wm Read, I presume, is William Read, a possible landlord/inn keeper. The reverse is completely plain.
I know there are some great pub token experts out there, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,
Just got a heap of tokens at auction today and in it is a US ''Good For'' token.
William Baasch Good For 1 Loaf Bread L:as Vegas N.M (this being New Mexico) - Hexagon shape, blank reverse
I have surfed the net and found that it has a Rarity Value of R10 (this being rare). Does anyone have any idea on its possible value?
I found an auctioneers website that sold 3 various tokens (which included one of these Baasch tokens) and the lot went for $100, so I'm thinking it's probably about $30 (or around £20'odd) on its own
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ok, internet search gave me the answer to Token 1
1656 Farthing token of Henry Stebbing, Woodbridge (Suffolk), Grocer
Legend reads ''1656 Henery Stebbinge In Woodbridg.Grcer''
Note the spelling of Henry is the rarer type.
<<snip>> One sold in the UK in May 2013 for £53, with the more common Henry spelling.
Token 2 remains a mystery

Hi,
Bought a load of tokens and coins recently and found these traders tokens. I don't have a reference book to find out much about them, so can anyone identify it.
Token 1
What I know - the date appears to be 1650 or 1656
The initials are an H with a small S between which helps create the capital H
Reverse shows some sort of bird, think it might be a hawk or falcon.
Legend appears to read ''HENERY'' which could be ''HENRY'' then perhaps a surname starting ''SI'' or ''SE'', hence the little S on the other side.
Token 2
On one side states ''HIS HALFE PENY'' with the initials I.R.E beneath.
Reverse has what appears to be a rampant lion and in the legend I can see the location appears to end ''....SEX'', so could be either Essex, Middlesex or Sussex
Any ideas?

Hi,
Thanks for the information. Always appreciated.
Dutch East India Company 1747 coin with BIRD (mintmark?)
in Coin Forum
Posted
Hi all,,
I have acquired a Dutch East India VOC coin dated 1747 and being a token collector, this is not my area of expertise.
I can find loads of images on the internet with a castle or a flower above the VOC letters BUT mine has a bird above them, like a cockerel or something. Is mine slightly rarer and does it have any significant value?
Please help,
Thank you, Simon.
