I own several large us cents that have counter stamps on them, and have no idea why they are there.Could somebody please explain it to me?? Thanks.
This 1852 is an example -
They are both beautiful coins with flawless art, but the medal is reminiscent of the lovely European designs that I'm so fond of. Sorry ikaros, but I have to give my vote to it.

That wasn't much of a change in size was it?
-
I agree with you 100%, it should be free
-
Lol. I bet
-
Those are all wonderful coins. I envy y'all and those beautiful specimens

I agree with the last post. I regularly read up on the times and people of them from that time era

I have got better pics up, see if it helps you see the finish, it really is that rough in the low areas
The pics are up top
Sorry

I posted it in error coins and now here, I don't know what to call this type of error. Both sides are extremely deep. Please see pics

Here is the other side, it's deep to.

I found a 1971 new penny with an extremely deep rim. I don't know how it happened.
Sorry about the glare, but I needed the rim to show. -
I get that feeling sometimes. I own a Canadian maple round that I just had to have, and don't collect billion. Lol.

Here is the other one

Most of us have kept at least one. They maybe cull but we love em.
Mine is a 1832 capped bust half dime and a 1954 seated half dime.
And just so y'all know, I wouldn't get rid of either, they started my love affair with smalls. -
Were they that hard to get?
-
Its approximately the same. And thanks I didn't know about them. I have just recently got excited with the smalls whenplaying with my magnifying glass
-
A token maybe?
-
I honestly have no idea why I've kept it. Any idea what they are called?
-
I never knew that, I've just really never considered gold.
Now that I know I will look into it, thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
There is someone who can answer most anything.
-
OK. Thanks, that's one more type for me to look for. I just love the smalls

I never knew the direction was change of monarch, thank you geordie. That answers something that I had often wondered.
And now I know why so many are holed.
I for one am not bothered by holes, I collect for my enjoyment and keep culls as well as nice coins. As long as it is appealing to my eyes, one makes me as happy as the other. I have multiple coins of some and steadily hunting what I don't have.
