Thanks for the welcomes. My "collection" is not much anymore. I went into full time dealing a few years ago and found it difficult to do both. I do, however, have many old notes and gold coins. I have always been fond of $2.5 and $5 Indians, as well as Black Eagle and Indian Chief Large US Notes. My son has an extensive collection of Australian Perth Silver, mostly Lunars. And I always have Silver Bullion rounds and Bars in my personal holdings.

From what I understand, the only "true" matte 1922 Peace Dollars are the very rare and limited proofs of that year. I believe, however, that they were all struck in high relief, which is pretty easily discernible from low relief. A high relief is most easily compared by the 1921 issue, which were all struck in high relief. You can look at a 1921 and right away notice the way it jumps out, especially in the hair of the central area. Details are also usually much sharper. I am unable to view your pics but I hope this info may help you decide what you may have.

A little hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like you half is VG at best. Also appears to have a cleaning and/or polishing judging strictly from the "shiny" color, though I can not be 100% certain. All things considered, if you slabbed it and it came back as " VG Details" "Cleaned" your ~ value is only about $40 at best. Figure 1 coin with $300 or less value will cost you a whopping $39 to grade (if you send more the price goes down, because of shipping and insurance costs), you are better off keeping it as is.

Hello, all.
My name is Robert and I just found this site. I am a dealer/investor from the East Bay of CA. I started as a collector 18 years ago and turned to investing about 10 years ago then opened my business in January, 2010 called Bullseye Bullion. I do all phases of the business including listing/shipping/ receiving/programming/ etc for my company website and eBay store. I also attend local shows and do consignment sales for local brick and mortor dealers in all things bullion & numismatic.
I am a family man who also works for a local city as a water treatment plant operator and enjoy every minute of it.
Looks like a great site here. Looking forward to getting to know you all,
Robert
