Finally I bought the coin. And still have no clue what it is. The crown is similar to that on swedish coins.

I found this coin for sale in a weird lot, mostly modern coins around it. Anybody has any idea what it is? Thanks.

Just got these. Used to be beautiful coins in someone's collection I am sure. Then the person died and it seems the municipality uses ignorants to clean these apartments and recycle unclaimed goods. The ignorant worker used a file and battery acid to test is the coins were of precious metal. Unbelievably ignorant! Seems he sold most of them to a pond shop.

My question now: how do I clean the stains (I already tried bakeing soda)? 

Some are silver some nickel, our "hero" burned them all.

I recently bought quite a few silver 20 kreuzer coins, both the Austrian and the Hungarian version. Some are in very very very good shape (with the mint luster), some are worn. Years from 1790 through 1846. Weight between 6.3 and 6.6 grams.

I would like to believe that, but 2 grams is way too much. If this was a 1648 thaler, sure, no problem... Will hang on to it and compare it with other 5 lire from that period at the next coin show.

I bought this coin last year, online. All seemed ok until I noticed it has a rare mint mark - the Rome mint version.

But now that I weighted - the coin is about 23 grams... and the edge letters are very shallow. Suppose it is fake.

What do you coinpeople say?

Looks good to me. I had a similar one. Silver is kinda soft, it gets scratched easily... Should be about 25 grams.

I am thinking about selling some roubles 1815, 1829, 1842, 1849, 1867, 1872, 1877 and 1878, poltina: 1816, 1851, 1877 and 25 kopeks 1827, 1829, 1833, 1835, 1838, 1853, 1858, 1859, 1877, some of them in excelent condition.

I already posted some pictures with the 1842 rouble here on this forum, asking about the die defect on the reverse. Did not get any replies though.

I will post some more pictures tomorrow if I have time, but I really prefer to sell them to people that can come and see them here in Bucharest, I do not like the idea of shipping the coins... or maybe I will list them on ebay... what do you think?

The price for the roubles will be between 100 and 400$, for poltina 50-150$, for the 25 kopeks 35-200$.

Thank you for the input. I love these talers and this was a bargain, got if for 50$. So even though it is common, I like it.

Weight - 28,5 grams, the obverse is almost worn out completly... the reverse is ok but looks like it is made of brass with a silver coating. The weight and aspect of the coins seem ok to me, what do you think about the coin authenticity?

The reverse picture is too small to see anything, but other then the weight of the coin I see nothing wrong. Guess you double-checked the weight.

Thalers were supposed to weight 28 or 30 grams so I doubt it is silver.

Each coin would be coded into this program by the collector using country / area of circulation, date, face value / name, grade... would this be a version of numista or would it have other functionalities like to let me know there is an ebay auction with a coin I am looking for?

These beautiful coins eluded me for some time, because they can be pretty expensive for your average romanian collector.

Here is my first one, a Dubrovnik (Ragushin) thaler 1755. What do you think about this coin?

These coins are not hard to find because there were about 10 million pieces minted, but in this state they are pretty hard to find. Also most of them turned into rings and other pieces of gewelry.

This coin is one of the last silver coins minted before the inflation that hit Romania after the end of ww2, before the russian army occupied Romania and the comunists took power, by force. Pretty nice state also.

I bought these coins some time ago. One of them is Plautilla probably Tomis colony, the other is Septimius Sever, posibly also Tomis.I see the corrosion marks... what can I do to stop it? Thank you.

The romanian leu is weaker than the dollar and I reckon than the 1 ban coin (100 ban = 1 leu) is for sure more costly to produce that it actually is worth. However nobody proposed the elimination of this useless coin - it is about 0.3 cents so you can't really but anything. And it is quite ugly, too.

Here is a 60 parali from Abdulhamid's reign also. Different desing though.
