  1. Just got these. Used to be beautiful coins in someone's collection I am sure. Then the person died and it seems the municipality uses ignorants to clean these apartments and recycle unclaimed goods. The ignorant worker used a file and battery acid to test is the coins were of precious metal. Unbelievably ignorant! Seems he sold most of them to a pond shop.

My question now: how do I clean the stains (I already tried bakeing soda)?

Some are silver some nickel, our "hero" burned them all.

  2. I am thinking about selling some roubles 1815, 1829, 1842, 1849, 1867, 1872, 1877 and 1878, poltina: 1816, 1851, 1877 and 25 kopeks 1827, 1829, 1833, 1835, 1838, 1853, 1858, 1859, 1877, some of them in excelent condition.

I already posted some pictures with the 1842 rouble here on this forum, asking about the die defect on the reverse. Did not get any replies though.

I will post some more pictures tomorrow if I have time, but I really prefer to sell them to people that can come and see them here in Bucharest, I do not like the idea of shipping the coins... or maybe I will list them on ebay... what do you think?

The price for the roubles will be between 100 and 400$, for poltina 50-150$, for the 25 kopeks 35-200$.

  3. Good day. I have a soft spot for medieval silver and especially for thalers.

These beautiful coins eluded me for some time, because they can be pretty expensive for your average romanian collector.

Here is my first one, a Dubrovnik (Ragushin) thaler 1755. What do you think about this coin?
