Sorry, don't know why I went with the R. Anyway, M is Milan
Its not just an M, its OM.
-
Its not an R. I looked it up, and found a pic to clarify, here is a link: http://www.lemonete.com/index/catalogo/Vit...0_centesimi.htm

I was just looking through some world coins, and I noticed I had one with a ship on it :)Its from Matla and its a 1972, and its a 10 cent piece. I also found some British half pennies, from the years 1952, '56, '59, '64, and '67. And I have 3 2$50 coins from Portugal with ships on them. And 2 1 Drachma from Greece...not to mention my canadian dimes Wow, I never realized how many coins there actually are with ships on them.
-
I am assuming either they are mintmarks or actually the initials of mintmasters who worked on the dies. Well, that's for Russian coins, but I don't know much about Italian coins...
If it were initals wouldnt it be on the other one too?
-
When it comes to world coins, I'm a hoarder. When it comes to US coins, anything from the 70's and back.

I have 2 old 10 Centesimis from Italy. one is from 1863 and the other is from 1866. I was just looking at them out of bordem, and then I noticed something. On the back of the 1866, I noticed the letters OM. I dont know what it is, so I looked on the 1863, and there is nothing in that spot. So I think its a mint mark or something. Can somebody help me?

But I have seen more notes like it with different dates...I have seen one from 1922, 1936, and 1945 on ebay.
-
Yes, but it doesnt say Central Bank of the Philippines on the back.
-
I've had this note for a while now. It was a bonus that somebody threw in from an auction on ebay. Its from the Philippines and its a "Victory" note. I always assumed that it was from WW2. But I just read the small print on the top of the bill, and it says, "By authority of an act of the Philippine Legistature, approved by the President of the United States, June 13, 1922. Its a 1 peso note, and its "Payable to the bearer on demand in silver pesos or in legal tender currency of the United States of equivalent value" It also says that "Victory series No. 66" and on the back, in the center it says "One Philippines Peso" and over that in big black letters in the word "Victory" does anybody know anything about this note???

Tiff refered me to an excellent store on Ebay! They have a lot of really nice proof sets there, and they are VERY nicely priced. I just ordered two proof sets today! I got a 1971 and a 1983 proof set! For only $5 each!!!
Here's a link to each one!

The 1983: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I collect anything that I can get my hands on. I dont really collect one certain type or date. I mainly collect US coins, because they are easier for me to get. But I do have a good bit of world coins thanks to me buying a few hundred off of Ebay

That's another school of though i like. Do you include Benjamin Franklin in modern or not? Personally i would.
Although he was never a president, he was a founding father. He managed to get a coin, and a bill, so yes, I would include him.
-
I think that modern US coins are the coins with the presidents on them. In 1909, when Lincoln took over the penny, it led the way for more coins to switch from the, then modern, to the now modern.

My mom was collecting for me ever since I was born, in 1988. But I have been collecting since I was about 9, 1997.

Just a few star notes here and there. I did however...get some very crisp 2004 $20 consecutive star notes from the bank.

I LOVE that coin! Its awesome!! I need to get my hand on more Euro

Wow. Thats a pretty coin. I love the side with the eagle. But the other side has a lot of open space and it does make the coin vulnerable to scratches.

I'm going out on a limb and I'm going to guess July 9th, because its my friends birthday, and a month to the day after mine
-
I collect pretty much what ever I can get my hands on. I get the bulk of my coins from circulation, and many of my outdated coins are circulated. But if I find an UNC. that I like, I will usually buy it.

I've always insisted that the way to purchase this coin is slabbed and authenticated. So why did I purchase THIS coin from a total stranger at a very good price??
