Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience with my registry set coins. Over the past year, I’ve noticed quite a significant jump in their value, and it’s been both exciting and a bit surprising. I’ve been really focusing on quality and have upgraded to some fantastic pieces, but I never anticipated such a rapid increase.
Has anyone else been tracking your registry set values lately? I specifically aimed to enhance my collection of Mercury dimes and Standing Liberty quarters, and it seems like prices have really spiked, especially for coins in mint state. I’m curious if we’re seeing a broader trend, or if it’s just the particular coins I’m invested in. I’ve been doing a bit of research on market trends, but I’m eager to hear if others have similar stories.
How are your collections faring in today’s market? Have you sold any pieces that skyrocketed in value? What tips do you have for tracking these trends effectively? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Absolutely! I’ve noticed the same trend with my own collection. I specifically focus on silver eagles and have seen their values sharply increase in the last year. It seems like the market is really favoring high-grade coins, especially those graded by NGC or PCGS. I picked up a few graded MS70 coins, and their value has nearly doubled! Have you checked out the latest market reports on PCGS or NGC? They offer some great insights into trends. I believe not just collectors, but also investors are taking more interest in quality pieces. What do you think has driven this increase?

Thanks for sharing, @CoinHunter42! I have been checking US Mint stats as well, and it seems to reflect similar surges for other people’s collections too. Definitely seems there’s a growing interest in quality over quantity these days.

Totally! My registry set value has doubled as well, especially for my Mercury dimes. I’ve been tactical about my acquisitions and sold a few pieces that skyrocketed in value. I always check current prices on the NGC site. Anyone have a favorite coin show or auction site for tracking such trends?

I’ve found great value at local coin shops and during coin expos. @SilverSeeker88, it’s refreshing to talk to others who appreciate these pieces instead of just flipping them for profit. It feels good to be part of a community that values history too. Have you visited any cool expos lately?

Quality is definitely winning over quantity. I remember when I started collecting years ago; it was all about having the most coins. Now I think it’s crucial to research and invest in high-grade coins. For anyone wanting tips, I recommend keeping an eye on auctions coming up on Proxibid as there are often amazing finds there! Has anyone had a standout piece from an auction?

Great suggestion, @OldSchoolCollector! I recently scored a rare Standing Liberty quarter that had minimal wear and was graded MS65. I paid slightly above market value, but it’s already spiked significantly! It’s surreal sometimes how unpredictable the market is, isn’t it?

I honestly think part of the increase stems from heightened interest from younger collectors. With all the social media awareness and shows like ‘Pawn Stars’ showcasing rare coins, there’s an influx of demand. Who else feels like collecting is becoming ‘cooler’ again?

I’ve also experienced this with my proof sets. Value has increased noticeably! As a mom, it helps me teach my kids the value of money, history, and patience through collecting. What a great way to bond! Anyone else collecting with their kids?

You make some great points, @OldSchoolCollector. I recently saw a spike in prices for red sheets for gold coins I had in my collection. I think people are really starting to understand the potential value of rare coins over more common ones. Is anyone here familiar with pricing trends on that front?
