Hey fellow collectors! I’ve recently been diving deep into collecting W quarters, and let me tell you, it has been quite the adventure. I found a couple of beautiful specimens from 2019, but here’s the kicker: I’m struggling to find solid price information, especially for the rarer pieces like the 2019-W quarters that many collectors are chasing.
I’ve done a fair bit of research online and have come across various guides and auction results, but I feel like I still have a lot to learn about the nuances of grading and market demand. For instance, I recently picked up a 2019-W War in the Pacific quarter in what I would consider MS65 condition. I’ve seen prices range from crazy high on certain platforms to what seems like a bargain on others. It’s a bit frustrating trying to navigate it all!
So, I’m curious if anyone here has recommendations for reliable resources or databases specifically tailored to W quarters. Do you have favorite websites or publications that you trust? How do you determine the fair market value, especially for those hard-to-find pieces? Let’s chat about our experiences and share some tips!
Great topic, coinenthusiast101! For reliable price information on W quarters, especially the rarer ones, I’d recommend checking out PCGS and NGC. Both sites have excellent resources for grading and prices based on actual sales.
- PCGS has a Price Guide that updates regularly.
- NGC has market data and auction results that are very useful.
Additionally, consider joining some social media groups or forums like this one where members frequently share their experiences. The community is invaluable for getting insights on current market trends, especially for specific coins like the 2019-W War in the Pacific quarter. Lastly, some collectors also use eBay sales data to gauge prices, though be cautious of inflated listings. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the links, @silverhunter93! I hadn’t checked out NGC’s resources yet! I appreciate your suggestions and will definitely look into those sites for more accurate pricing.

Another useful resource is the U.S. Mint website, where they provide information on new releases and historical data on quarters. I also recommend the forums on CoinTalk and Reddit’s r/coins. You’d be surprised how much information you can find by just browsing through those discussions. Don’t forget to check graded sales on Heritage Auctions too! They’re a goldmine for understanding what collectors are willing to pay. Good luck with your collection!

@rarecoinlover, I completely agree! The U.S. Mint site is definitely a solid start for collectors, especially for official information. However, be wary of their pricing, which can occasionally be higher due to collector demand. Comparing across several platforms is the best way to determine a fair market value.

Even though I find it challenging at times, I recommend using the CoinMarketCap’s Coin Price Tracker. They sometimes list coins alongside cryptocurrency, which can be a bit quirky, but you might be able to find updated price trends there too. I also think social media auctions can give insight into current prices, but make sure you have a keen eye, as not all sellers know the true value of their coins.

As a rule of thumb, never rely on one source alone. Multiple resources give you a better picture of the potential price range. Auctions often reflect a higher premium due to desirability. I recently sold my 2019-W quarter for more than I expected purely because I marketed it well in a local collector’s Facebook group. It really pays off to keep an eye on community sales!

That’s a great point, @coinloversunited! Marketing your coins effectively and engaging with local groups can really boost visibility. I may need to try that out to see if I can get a better offer on some of my pieces.

I’ve been collecting for over 30 years and I have to say, it’s wild to see the market growing around W quarters. Just a few years back, many people didn’t even care about them. If you find a 2019-W that you believe is an MS67 or higher, you can potentially see some unbelievable price tags! Patience is key when dealing with rare coins.

Absolutely, @oldschoolcoin! I couldn’t agree more. Patience and research can lead you to stumble across some great finds. I was lucky enough to discover an uncirculated 2019-W for a steal last month. Just because it’s a W quarter, doesn’t mean it should always come with a high price tag! Just throw it on a nice display—who wouldn’t appreciate its beauty?

I’m fairly new to this, but I’ve found that local coin shops can also give you valuable insights. I visited one recently, and the dealer was super knowledgeable! They often have their finger on the pulse of what’s moving in the market. Just make sure to ask questions and do some research yourself too, so you can spot a good deal when you see one!

P.S., I found a meme that sums up my experiences with finding decent prices on W quarters—“Searching for W quarters be like: that old game show host screaming, ‘Is that your final answer?’” The quest can be real! But keep at it, everyone! You’ll find those hidden gems.
