Has anyone here successfully bought or traded end rolls online? What platforms do you recommend?

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving deeper into the world of coin collecting lately and I’ve found myself really intrigued by end rolls. I recently managed to snag a few rolls from my local bank, but luck hasn’t been on my side with finding specific coins in them. I’ve heard that many collectors buy or trade end rolls online, and I’m considering giving it a shot.

I’m curious if anyone here has had success with that? What platforms do you recommend? I’ve done a bit of research and seen options like eBay and some dedicated coin forums, but I’m cautious about the authenticity of what’s being sold. Additionally, I’d love to hear any specific experiences you’ve had regarding the condition of the coins you received. Did the rolls match what was advertised?

I’d appreciate any tips or insights! Have you found any great deals? What should I look out for when buying or trading? I’m all ears and eager to learn from your experiences!

Hi CoinHunter83! I’ve bought and traded end rolls online through various platforms, and I can share some insights based on my experiences. The most popular site I’ve used is eBay. The variety of sellers is vast, and if you’re careful with your selections, you can find some decent deals. Make sure to check their ratings and reviews before placing an order. Also, consider using filters for location to avoid high shipping costs.

I’ve had a mixed experience with roll condition, though. Sometimes, the rolls are exactly as described, while other times, I received rolls that were clearly searched. Make sure to look for listings that specify whether they are bank-wrapped or if the seller has any guarantees regarding the contents. You can also try dedicated coin forums—there are some good ones out there where members trade amongst themselves.

Happy hunting! Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello! I would recommend checking out Coins Forum. It’s a solid community where members often trade coins directly. I’ve seen some great end roll trades go through there. Just make sure to communicate well with the other party to establish trust.

On eBay, I have had good luck with sellers who offer returns in case the rolls don’t match the description. That’s vital since you’re investing money in something that can be hit or miss. I even had one seller provide photos of the ends of the rolls, which helped in verifying what I might find inside. Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the tips, @CoinGuru21! I really appreciate the detailed advice about eBay and the importance of checking seller ratings. Have you ever had any issues with shipping, or did everything generally arrive as expected?

Great suggestions! I’ve bought rolls on Amazon too, where there are some trusted sellers who focus on coins. The end rolls have all matched their descriptions, but the selection is a bit limited compared to eBay. Just another option to consider!

Hey there! I’ve been trading end rolls on Facebook groups dedicated to coin collecting. They are often quite active and you can see a lot of feedback from the community. Just be careful and conduct trades with established members. It’s easy to get burned if you don’t verify the other party. Overall though, I’ve had some great finds that way!

Thanks @CoinCollectingDad, that’s really helpful! I hadn’t considered using Facebook groups before but it sounds like a good idea. Any specific groups you recommend for a beginner?

For sure! There’s a group called ‘Coin Collectors Unite’ that’s great for beginners. They have discussions about end rolls and members often post what they’re looking to trade or sell. Just make sure to read the rules of the group and follow guidelines for trading!

Hello everyone! I’ve had mostly great experiences on eBay, but once I got a roll that turned out to be mostly foreign coins and tokens! So be sure to check if the seller specifies the contents. Also, I usually ask for better pictures if I’m skeptical about the listing. It never hurts to ask. Good luck with your end roll adventures!

Here’s a joke for you guys: Why did the coin collector break up with his girlfriend? She kept talking about making cents! :joy: Anyway, I do think eBay has the widest selection but just be sure to do your homework. Happy hunting!

@HistoryBuff21, that’s a great point about asking for more pictures! I’ll definitely keep that in mind. Did you report the seller or just leave feedback after receiving the incorrect roll?

I just left feedback, @CoinHunter83. eBay handles a lot of these issues pretty well, so I didn’t find it necessary to escalate it. I figured it was a small price to pay for a lesson learned! Now I’m way more cautious with new sellers. Thanks for asking!
