Hey fellow collectors! I’ve recently been on the hunt for a rare West Point coin – specifically the 2019-W quarter series. It’s been quite the journey! I started off scouring local shops but found nothing but the usual selection. Then I decided to hit up a couple of regional coin shows, which was both exciting and overwhelming. I spoke with some seasoned collectors who shared tips on spotting fakes and valuing condition, which was invaluable!
However, my biggest find came unexpectedly while browsing an online auction site. I managed to snag a stunning 2019-W quarter in MS70 condition. The luster on it is incredible, and I can’t stop admiring it! It got me thinking: I’d love to hear your stories. Did you’ve luck at a trade show, or did you find a gem in a flea market? What are your tips for scoring those hidden treasures?
I’m particularly interested in the condition of the coins you found and how you verified their authenticity. Have any of you had experiences with online purchases? Let’s share our stories and advice. Looking forward to hearing what you all have to say!
Hey CoinHustler99! I totally relate to your experience. Last year, I was on the hunt for a 2019-W quarter as well. After scouring a bunch of local shops without any luck, I decided to attend a massive coin show in Chicago. It was overwhelming but also incredibly rewarding. There were rows and rows of dealers, and I remember one fellow collector gave me a tip about a dealer who had a secret stash of rare items.
During my visit to that dealer, I stumbled upon a pristine 2019-W quarter in PR70 condition! I couldn’t believe my luck! I checked its authenticity using NGC’s verification service, and everything checked out. Those regional shows are definitely worth the trip, as you can find treasures that you wouldn’t normally come across. Good luck on your hunt!

I found my 2019-W quarter at a flea market! It was hiding in a dusty old box of miscellaneous coins. Sometimes you just have to dig a little—and hope that some seller doesn’t know what they have! Keep your eyes peeled!

Hey all! My best find was online as well. I was browsing eBay late one night and stumbled across a 2019-W quarter listed as ‘rare’. It was poorly photographed and mislisted! I took the opportunity, and it ended up being in MS69 condition. The seller didn’t know what they had, and I got it for a steal! PCGS has a great guide on spotting these listings if anyone’s interested. Just be cautious with online transactions—always verify before you buy!

Absolutely, CoinHustler99! When talking to dealers, I found that being friendly and showing genuine interest really helps. Ask them about their favorite pieces and let them share their knowledge. It’s amazing what little insights you can get that way! Plus, it opens up negotiations. Don’t be afraid to ask about their pricing—most dealers appreciate a good conversation. Happy hunting!

Great find, SilverDude88! Flea markets can indeed be a goldmine for unexpected finds. My cousin actually found a rare coin from the 1800s tangled with some old buttons! It’s all about luck and timing, I guess. Just be ready to sift through tons of junk!

Hi, everyone! Based on your excitement about the 2019-W quarters, it’s worth noting the importance of grading when purchasing any rare coin, especially online. Always look for the slabbed ones when possible – that means they’ve been graded by reputable services like NGC or PCGS. In addition to ensuring authenticity, it often adds to the coin’s value. If you’re ever unsure, don’t hesitate to ask the community for feedback before making a significant purchase! Keeping track of market values can also help. Happy collecting! US Mint is a good resource too.

Exactly! The right listing can make all the difference in an online auction. I also check completed listings to gauge actual sale prices. It’s a great way to see how much a coin has sold for recently—just be wary of inflated prices from sellers looking to make a quick buck! I’d recommend joining forums like this one regularly to stay updated on trends.

Hey all! Just wanted to share my own story—at a local shop, I found a 2019-W quarter that had just been brought in. It was a bit scratched but still had good detail. I asked the owner if they could pull it out to check the grade more closely. Sometimes developing a rapport with shop owners can lead to hidden finds.
