SMS
The Krause Catalog notes that the Dominican Republic 25 Centavos (Human Rights - Mirabel Sisters) 1983-1987 has both coin and medal rotation as well as edge reeding varieties. I'm (still) in the middle of cataloging my collection (and extras for sell), and I have found the following: 1983: Medal Align,sm. reed 1984,Mo: Medal Align,lg. reed 1987: Coin Align,sm. reed 1986: Coin Align,lg. reed sm reed (narrow reeding): ||||||||||||||| lg reed (wide reeding): | | | | | | | | | | Does anyone have any of these coins that do not fit into this mold? I'm thinking that the alignment/reeding is not a variety, but rather specific to each year's mintage. Thanks for any input!

SMS
Thanks for the info! It would seem that they periodically changed their reeding type for some reason or another. To me a variety is within a particular mintage (according to year, rather than series). Kinda like the narrow/wide AM 1999 & 2000, or the lg.date/sm.date cents, or the medal/coin alignment Belgiums, etc., etc. Would be an intresting study to find out the "why" behind it all. Thanks again.
Trantor_3
It could well be that these coins were minted by different mints each year. It's quite obvious that the 1984 was done by the Mexico City Mint. And the two new coins Dom.Rep. issued this year, the 10 and 25 peso, are minted by the Royal Canadian Mint. So perhapst due to the fact that different mints have minted the coins, these differences were casued.
