extant4cell
Found the biography of GM on one of the Russian forums and decided to translate it in English,so it can be displayed proudly with all other biographies on my site ( http://numistika.com/books.html ).If you have a little bit of time to read it, can you please comment on my translation, so I canpossibly improve it? Here is a direct link to the pdf file:Georgii MikhailovichMaksimenko - 2006Grand Duke - Life, Works, Collectionrus & eng. versions Also, if you know who Maksimenko is and how to contact her (and care to share),it would also be appreciated.Thank you in advance! IMIS
Very nicely done Eugene! Is there a complete listing of GM coins in the Smithsonian? Do you have any specifics on the whereabouts of at least some other coins from the collection that did not make it to the museum? Thanks
extant4cell
There are people who have collected materials for years, and I am very hopeful that the story of GM collection will soon continue "on the paper" from the time it left Russia. There are more interesting materials here: http://numistika.com/vkgm.html , including a copy of Christie's catalog with prices and buyers of gold and platinum coins in 1950... courtesy of Mr. V.
