Sandwich Man
Hi folks! I'm new to this site, and don't collect very much, but I've been sifting pennies lately (it's worth the bank teller's expression when I ask for $5 or $10...in what? ). I received two, new cents in change today (from a freshly opened roll) with this extra squiggle of metal on the reverse, through the 'E' in 'CENT'. Is this a die crack, some other error, or nothing? Sir Sisu
If that line is raised, then my estimate would be a die crack. I guess theoretically it could be a die gouge, but it looks to thin for that. Wait for other replies however as errors are quite unfamiliar territory for me -though I do find them very interesting, especially the smaller ones. Art
Welcome to CP. I hope that you enjoy it here. It can certainly feed the collecting fever. I'm with Sir Sisu on his analysis.
