qualified_coinnut
Thanks for the help, I'm a little slow today. Darn cold, snow in the Great white North, ah, my brain is frozen, now I've got it
Ian
Sadly, I can't tell you what the Exposition at Dijon was all about, let alone anything concerning the medal commemorating it. What metal is it? Whitemetal or silver. The strange `nibbling' at the edge would suggest to me that it's not going to attract a high value irrespective of the metal involved, but that is just me opining Ian
bill
Any chance that it is aluminum? Napolean III had a few aluminum medals. I have one book at home that I can check tonight.
qualified_coinnut
I'm not sure what the composition is, it is fairly heavy, almost white metal type. Too bad about the chunk out of it, it would otherwise be a nice piece.
bill
Date on the reverse? Artist's name at the base of the bust?
Ian
Have a look at this example dated 1855. Maybe the date is the reason why we're having difficulties referencing up on it (?) http://tinyurl.com/g35h3 Ian
qualified_coinnut
Quite possible Ian; I guess I have an idea of what the piece should have possibly ben worth, if it was intact. I'm sure I can still roll it over for $5 or so at our yard sale tomorrow. Thanks all for your help
